Will be a little destructive on deer if you hit the shoulder, and I would not expect it to penetrate too deep.

Max load of IMR 4895 and a Sierra 125 Pro-Hunter. Books says it clocks almost 3200fps. My JC Higgins shoots em into a ragged hole.

How do you think this load performs on little whitetails? Up to 175lbs maybe.

Would this be fur un-friendly on coyotes?

My ballistic program I use is from Norma and it's good and free. http://www.norma.cc/htm_files/javapagee.htm

It says with the right zero, (260yd) the bullet should stay within 3" or so out to 300yds. That's 2.5" high at 100 and 3.5" low at 300! That's a good MPBR for med. size critters if you ask me.

My next thought: Which scope? I have it narrowed down to either a VX1 4-12x or Burris B-Plex 3-9x.

What are your thoughts on the subject?

Happy shooting,
Redrider.
