I am sure a smith would be able to fix this with no drama's. But not someone who is emchanically ignorant such as myself

I called CZ in Kansas City about 5 days ago and talked with Mike (gunsmith for CZ) about the weak looking spring nut retainer on my CZ 550 American in 9.3X62 caliber. I asked what I could do or have done to fix it BEFORE something bad happened in a bad situation. He said filing a bigger groove in the firing pin where the present clip is and putting a stronger "C" clip there would work. I asked if they (CZ) could do it for me. He stated that my gun was still under warranty and to send the bolt to them. I USPSd the bolt immediately to CZ the same afternoon. Four days later it came back fixed but a different way than we had talked about. And to my delight a much better way. It has the locking nut described by some of the other owners, I think anyway from the diagram posted above-the heavy duty one, as opposed to the weak little retainer. I am extremely pleased with not only the "fix" but the fast turnaround time. Now I feel confident that when charged by a fericous 8 point buck deer my bullet launcher won't go "click." Later, Mike

Are these parts easy to fit ?? could we just purchase them and fit them ourselves ??

i had a really good experience recently. i sent my bolt back to CZ with the request to provide me one without the "c-clip". i had the new one back within 2 weeks from the date of my retun to them. the new bolt has an entirely different and acceptable arrangement on the firing pin. no charge. i called ahead and spoke with "CJ" to arrange the return.

Could one just order the shroud/fireing pin assembly and screw it straight into the bolt, or is there more to it than that.

I have two clipped cz rifles and two without the clip. I have a cz .22 hornet but i am not phased wether that has a clip or not.

PC: i expect that is exactly what the did at CZ. but they did tell me to mail them my bolt rather than mailing me a part. i imagine that they want to reclaim as many of the "defective" mechanisms as they can. it was really quick and easy. i assume there is a CZ factory distributor in Australia for you to correspond with??

Bill winchester Australia are the importers of cz rifles for Oz and I really don't think they are to concerned with the cz line of rifles.

What is the fellows name whom helped you at the cz place ??
The thing is in the US they will not ship gun parts out of the country.

I would like to get this sorted as it niggles at me....
