Here are some pictures of my new toy. I just got it in today it is a 9.3x62 built on a 98 mauser with double set triggers from what little info I was able to find the rifle was built or assembled in 1927. The action and barrel are original The bolt has been jeweled and a muzzle brake has been added it looks to be a KDF style. I could not tell you what make the mauser is ie Obendorf, the rifle is real light M1 tanker was over looking at it and he even said it was real light. When I have time I will try to take better pictures.

Very nice rifle, I wish it could talk, I would love to hear the stories it has to tell. Congrats. Can you explain the purpose and function of the 2 triggers?

M1 had to show me how to use the double set triggers you pull the rear trigger and it sets the front trigger. For a light trigger pull if you don't pull the rear trigger the front trigger is about 4 to 5 lbs with it set it is around 2.5 lbs.

Yea, chop that thing off and re-crown the barrel. You'll on lose about 1/2". A gun that nice shouldn't be bastardised with a muzzle break. Butter-knife bolt handles and double-set triggers don't go with MB's.

Well my plan is to chop the barrel to about 20 inches buy a good ramline or corelit synthetic stock, after that chop that bolt off and have another one put on and put in good timmney trigger should be a good pig gun. Then I will have a true beauty the only other gun I own is model 94 in 30-30 and the pellet gun my wife bought me for christmas. Have an nice day

You never know. I know someone who recently took an original MINT commercial Type A Oberndorf sporter in 30-06 with integral rib barrel and stripped it just to get the receiver for some half ass custom project! Kinda like taking the engine out of a Duesenberg to put in a Model A.

If anything I would like to get it back to it's original form ie; open sights it also has a buehler type safety these old mauser came with regular military mauser safeties? But if i'm unable to I will keep it like it is, maybe one day I will get stupid and get rid of it! and let some other guy deal with it. Oh yeah I'm going to go shoot it today I will see how bad this muzzle brake is.

Nice find. I recently found a nice older sporter like that too. Only it had been rebarreled.

I plan on rebarreling again to 9.3x62 and want to get some input from you folks on barrel length. My two options are 23.6" and 25.6".

Like 323, my rifle is pretty light weight. And will only sport open sights.
