want to purchase a rifle in UAE
I'm working in Dubai and Abu Dhabi for the next 5 weeks, I've brought my firearms ticket with me, I'm allowed to purchase a rifle, not sure where to go while here.david@recruitconsult.com

No idea about the UAE but I could give you a list of half a dozen gun shops in Kuwait who sell some nice stuff. Let me know if you need their contact details.

Good hunting!

I worked in Saudi Arabia for a year and an American citizen having a firearm of any type was strictly a no-no. This was in the late '80s in case it has recently changed, but I doubt it. Best wishes.

Cal,

I do not have much of an idea about Saudi Arabian gun laws but understand that the Saudis now give American and British citizens gun licenses after the attacks on them a year ago. However these are mostly for handguns.

Again, I don't know about the UAE's laws but I had a proposal to start a gun shop in Kuwait under the sponsorship of a very prominent person there and Kuwait does give permits to buy shotguns and sporting rifles to expats on fulfillment of certain conditions. Had I decided to start the shop, or if I decide to start a business selling guns in the future, the only request from my sponsor is to make sure that some of the old dealers there (who have been doing badly in recent times) are not hurt. If an Indian can do this, I am sure that a US or European citizen should not have much of a problem getting a permit to own a rifle or shotgun provided he fulfills the legal requirements there.

Best wishes,

Mehul Kamdar
