Thought I might be able to save some time with this and just ask. What powders are you using for the .338 win mag and what can of velocity are you getting with 225 and 250-grain bullets. Thanks

For the 225 gr, I use 70 gr of IMR 4350 for 2700 fps.

For the 250 gr I use 69 gr of Rel 22 for 2650.

I don't like 4831 in the 338 mag, as it takes up too much room, and causes one to have to compress the powder a lot.

I use H414

I use RE-22 with 250s, exclusively in my 5 rifles in this caliber. I load from 75-77 grs. with 250 Partitions, Partition Gold Moly Free and Hornady Spire Points.

This is functional max. and "over book", so start at 69 grs. and work up, carefully, velocities run about 2725-2775 depending on rifle and the conponent lot(s).

I might add that I used 4350 for 20+ yrs. and still prefer it with 225 Pts. I see no reason for light bullets in magnum rifles or using more than one bullet weight. I prefer the Partition Gold M.F. to any other available bullet.

For 225 NAB or 225 SGS - 73 IMR 4350 - 2850 fps

70 grains of 4350 with a nosler 210 part = 2900, the same load with a 225 = just a little over 2800.

Another voter for plain old H4350. I have a favorate load using Rel22 with 250gr. bullets but the powder doesn't care that much for temperature changes. Make life simple and stick with one powder that will work well with all. My loads are basically right from the books. Funny, my hunting load has never been chrony'd, it is copied from the Barns manual using the 225g X and 4350. The book says 2700 fps and change, all I know is that I shot 2 groups with it the first time out and they were 1-1.25" and I said good enough, and loaded the rest of them.

This is not a max velocity load or an attempt to develop one. It�s basically a factory velocity duplication load. It does have very consistent velocities and good accuracy.
