clearly, a plethora of wonderful 6.5 cartridges. I must admit that I am somewhat surprised at the abundance of non-magnum entries. It bodes well, in my opinion, that so many very knowledgeable riflemen are pleased with a light recoiling rifle sending a moderate sized bullet at 2400-3000 fps. Especially since the 6.5 has become a darling of the long range crowd. interesting indeed.

I have always been intrigued by the 6.5x55 Swede since a fella in deer camp had one when I was young, and had never heard of it. When the 6.5 craze hit, I wanted a 6.5 but didn't want a creed. Picked up a nice T3X Hunter in 6.5x55 SE, and really love it. Next 6.5 will be a Model 70 Supergrade in 264 Win Mag, always wanted one.

I have never been impressed with the 6.5s, I see them compared with the 270 and 06 and that's a bunch! Bell killed lots of elephants with one, but declared his pick of modern calibers for elephant would be the .308..All in all,its just another nice caliber, like dozen of others. stir sofa

I recently bought a 6.5 Creedmoor shot it about a box amd it passed accuracy but failed on muzzle velocity and whatever it suited me not. I suppose the fact that an original FN 250-3000 showed up on my door step and those of you who know me know I swooned over that and I sent the Creedmoor packing, prejudice for the 250 always wins in my case!,

not all is lost, I still have a 6,5x54 Mannlicher Schonauer 1903 that I love..

Nope; brass is too hard to get. Creedmoor; it is modern and does the same thing. But I am actually building a 6.5x58 Portuguese for a guy now; stupid choice, but he is paying in cash. So even though the customer is wrong, he might get what wants anyway.
But the reason I don't like the swede is that you can't make the brass from anything else. At least the Portuguese, you can.

6.55x55 can be easily made from 270 Win. Come on over and I'll show you.
