Second bbl. for my Sauer S202
Just got my second bbl. for my Sauer S202 today ! It's in cal. 30-06...I was previously thinking of 7x64 or .270win but the salesman had me convinced that 30-06 and 9.3x62 that I already have, Plus a barrel in 25-06 would make a fantastic trio.

So now I have a 9.3x62 and 30-06 combo...and maybe someday also a third barrel in 25-06 !

And here is the rifle...

I have done quite a bit of hunting with a 308 and a 9,3x74R double, they are 2 of my favorite calibres, which as you know are the same ballistics as your 30-06 and 9,3x62.

So I think you made an excellent choice in your second barrel.

Also in your 202, for a caliber smaller than 30-06 the 25-06 is not only the most logical choice [in that it fits your action and bolt face], it is the best choice ballistically as well.

How much does the 202 weigh in the standard caliber steel receiver? With synthetic stock, I'm hearing either 8 pounds or 8.75 pounds.

My steel reveiver 202 weights an even 9 lbs., incl. scope.

Ingvar, you won't regret your acquisition. Last year, I added a .30-06 bbl. to my original 7x64.

Both shoot way better than the test target that comes along. Here is a mix of 5-shot groups shot with several .30-06 handloads at 100 m.

3 shots do not make a group, they show a point of aim or impact.
5 shots are a group.

Good choice Ingvar, I am going to order a 30/06 barrel for my S202 some day soon.

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

Thanks, Ingvar and Andre. That's not bad at all, given that yours also has the open sights.

I've been trying to buy one recently over the internet, i.e., without hefting them myself, and I get some really broad replies as to weight.

Thanks, Ingvar. I've worn our the keys on that site for months, but it isn't very clear on weight, sometimes. On some models it reads, "Weights start at 2.9 kg." That's not much help, even for current models, and some of the rifles I'm looking at are not represented in the Sauer lineup currently.

Sauer does not have a robust dealership network in the US...

Yes I occasionally hunt caribou but I have never hunted horses Smiler

But I bet my new 30-06 would be perfect for that task Big Grin. P.s. that’s some craftsmanship !

Jaywalker ! Sauer classic with synthetic stock weighs the same as the classic model with wooden stock.

I wish someone would have told me you could just buy another barrel for your Sauer 202 before I had bought seven of the complete dang rifles. killpc
