jnd,

I did just that a few days ago. Bought a Ruger #1 in the 9.3x74R and it handles very nice. A perfect package for my next African plains game safari. I have brass and bullets enroute now to find a set of dies to load with.

Mine is in progress too although I didn't have a .308 to sell I just did it.
My project is a commercial Mauser action with a 20" lightweight barrel Gentry 3 position safety, Timney trigger commercial hinged bottom metal from Sarco a Butler Creek synthetic stock, front sight and a detachable NECG peep for the rear and a 2-7 Leupold scope. The cheapo synthetic will get it shooting until I can get that right piece of wood for it.
The rifle is in pieces but I already have components and dies for it and a dummy round put together to look at!

suggestion if you are getting the 9,3x62. Buy 100 rounds of PRVI ammunition from Graf's. $14 per box, and by time it is all shot up you have familiarized yourself with the rifle and have 100 rounds of once-fired brass for your rifle.

The 9,3bore is THE thing in 2007.

Give up my .308s ... Nah!

BUT ... I am taking a VZ.24 action to the Smith this morning to have it barrelled as my second 9,3x62!

I like'm both. Why choose between them?

clap

'bout ten years ago I bought a new Fat Boy. Six months later my lovely wife decides she likes packing on her cousin Bob's Electra Glide Classic better. Tells me "that Fat Boy is LOUD!!!, vibrates, and doesn't have much rear suspension travel". I reply, "sounds like a Softtail HD to me...and I ain't getting rid of it". She tells me the magic words "...at your age...you can have two...". Did I ever tell you guys what a wonderful woman I married...?'. So, I kept the FB and bought a 95th Anniversary EG Classic fuel-injected version.

Just keep telling yourself "...at your age...you can have two...".

Because the 7x57 is a better little brother, that's why! LOL

jnd, I am with you!
My ZG is back from the 'Smith and might get to bark this weekend. The 308 went to the wayside a few years ago, I have never missed it. Somehow these German chamberings has really gotten my attention lately. Only downfall is they aren't quite so popular in Canada. Brass is a pain sometimes.

I am sure I could make space for each and every 9,3 chambering. How sweet!
