I own 2 very different rifles in 300 Win Mag, one is a Kimber 8400 Select, and the other is a dedicated long range target rifle for F-Class comp. It is based on a Remington Sendero, only the action is original, it is trued and blue printed with a bushed bolt and set up as a switch barrel.
The reason is obvious why I have 2 rifles in the same cartridge.
I used to have 2 25-06's too, but I don't shoot short comps anymore, so that target rifle was rebarreled to 264 Win Mag and 270 Weatherby, it too is a switch barrel.
Cheers.

sambarman338We have owned many .22 rimfires over the years

and I have had three .30/06s - maybe two at one time, one being a Winchester DB bought for its 'apparent' bargain price rather than the calibre.
I know of a prominent public figure who collected Lee Enfields and admitted to having about 30 of them, presumably all .303 Brits.

I don't know how things are in the Czech Republic, but in the US we have the right to own firearms - as many as we want. The "point" is the freedom to do so. Many folks here own more than one motor vehicle, more than one home, more than one computer, more than one set of golf clubs. Most Americans don't worry about "the point", this is an aspect of our freedom to pursue happiness.

2 ea - .257 Weatherby
4 ea - .22 LR

waterratI've had my pre-64 358 Norma for 35 years but whenever I saw another one at a show or shop I'd pick it up too. Along the way,,2 Mausers,1 Ruger 77, 1 Enfield Mannlicher, and a post 64 I'd rebarreled. They wre all traded or gifted to friends and the like. Now the Norms's are all gone and have a 35 Gibbs in place!
I tend to use more than enough gun

I cannot believe I read that on a gun website!
We don't have to be logical and that's my point!
Most of us don't even need one rifle, let alone duplicates.... but that will never happen.

Some day I will have my own gun!

9.3 X 75RGot to reading thoroughly all the posts which gave pause to think about the toy box. All the 16 bores but one are there because they're drillings, all the rifle cartridges are different. I think I only have duplicates in one rifle cartridge and several calibers. I have two 9 X 57's, a rimmed and rimless so I suppose argument could be made they aren't the same but they use the same dies and bullets. Calibers, I have two, 54 cal. muzzleloaders. One a semi-custom Hawken and the other a custom flint Jaeger. 45 cal. is often repeated in rifles and handguns, muzzleloader and cartridge rifles. 9mm is duplicated in several rifles other than the 9 X 57's as is 9.3mm. Handguns I have several duplicates. 32-20, 32 ACP and 380 ACP, 22LR and 44 Spl.

Singleshot03Yes, just like a woman can never have too many purses according to my wife.
I started collecting 270's before kids- down to 4 now.
I bought a nice wood stocked 300 win mag than heard stories of hunting in the rain of Canada and bought another 300 win mag but composite stock and stainless barrel.
Now that Weatherby Ultra lites have caught my attention I may pickup one in .270
Practical no but they bring a smile to my face.

Rule 303I don't shoot enough to have 2 in the same calibre but that is not a reason not to.

I do have a 35Whelen, 35Sambar and working on a 350Rigby

257 Roberts two
7X57 three
270 three
264 WM two
220 Swift two
The fun of being a gun nut is...well being one

I own 3 7mm-08s, 3 30-06s and 3 338 WMs. I still haven't decided which brand of rifle I like best. They all have their pros and cons.
12 March 2015, 09:34
2ndtimerI have 4 rifles chambered for .223 rem.
2 .270WSM'S (And one standard .270 Win)
guess I need another standard 270.
I like the commonality of ammo and reloading components. My .223's consist of a long heavy barrel bolt, a 22" slightly less heavy barrel bolt, and a long heavy barrel AR, and an AR carbine.
Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.

rl andersonI forgot I have 4 243's. Also 12 16ga, as many 20's and two 28's. I have failed the 12 step program many, many times.

I've got two 404 Jeffery rifles, one is a Duane Wiebe build on an Argentine 1909 Mauser action, the other is on a Winchester Model 70 action. Both work great, I'm not selling either.

You better duck Ray .

The only reason to have an 06 is to turn it into a 400 Whelan, 9.3 Gibbs, 35 Gibbs or 6.5 Sherman.

Phil Shoemaker : "I went to a .30-06 on a fine old Mauser action. That worked successfully for a few years until a wounded, vindictive brown bear taught me that precise bullet placement is not always possible in thick alders, at spitting distances and when time is measured in split seconds. Lucky to come out of that lesson alive, I decided to look for a more suitable rifle."

Gee I own 2 30-06s but I planed on using one for a donnor but found a like new M700 in 35 Whelen so I'm still looking for something to do with it and still might have it rebored to 35 Whelen.

dogcatUnfortunatly, yes, I have several of the same caliber. I am trying to convince myself to sell them but am losing the argument.
13 March 2015, 06:15
GrumulkinAs far as the number of guns goes, I've managed to keep it sensible (not really) but being the owner of Encores, Contenders, Blasers and AR-15s, the number of barrels has gotten a bit out of hand.
Do I really NEED to shoot seven different .308 caliber cartridges? How about three in .375 and four in .458.
I have nothing in 8mm, .338 or .416 a fact I pride myself on. It proves I'm exercising some restraint.

tygersmanHave enjoyed my Model 70 404 Jeffery so much that I decided to have an all weather 404 built on a Model 70 stainless action. Guess I'll have Africa and Alaska covered in wood and synthetic respectively.
Should be ready in a couple or three months.

By your definition, I'd be delusional, but I'd be careful throwing that definition around. The Obama Administration and the current DOJ might want to claim that is an admission against interest.
That said, I like backups for virtually everything. Redundancy reduces surprises.

AtkinsonWell hey, I had to say that, I have two 30-06's, but one is a 18.5 inch barreled carbine, so its my shadow in the closet hidden away .308 with a funny caliber stamp, or something like that!
Ooops, I have two 250-3000s also but one has a straight grip!
I go now!

Calif. HunterI have 4 .223s - a heavy barreled Savage, a lightweight CZ-527, a heavy barreled AR and a "tacticool" Ar for my 16-year old son. I have 3 .30-30s - a 1949 Mod 94 in excellent condition, a 1975 Mod 94 and a Savage 340 that I shoot 125 and 130 gr spitzers out of. I also have 3 .41 mags - a Mod 58, a Mod 57 and an old model Blackhawk. Not to mention rimfires....
14 March 2015, 01:22
Idaho Sharpshooterthree AR's and a Savage 12BV-SS in .223, and a couple of custom 98's in 257 Roberts.
Four 22 rimfires, if you count the Carbon-15 with the Ciener Conversion my wife claims.
A man can't have too many 257 Roberts in the gun vault...

npd345four 30-06's, two 7x57's and two 50 cal black powder rifles are my only multiple calibers toys.
I have almost a dozen 9,3x57's, just received my 6th 9,3x62 but only have one 9,3x64.
Don't ask me about .30-06's or 8x57's.

rl andersonIt's not so much duplicates in the same caliber, I just bought my third 270, 100 new cases, rings & bases and a scope for a Pre 64 M70. I haven't shot a 270 in over 5 years. What about multiple within the same family of calibers? In 7MM there are two 7Mm-08's a Wby Ultra Light and a custom Ruger #1, Kimber 280 (that won't do anything the 270's or 06 can't) a Custom 7X57AI, M70 7MM carbine and I'm looking for an action to have another 7X57 built. I guess I just like .284"s

23 March 2015, 17:54
farbedoI have a couple each in .300 Win mag, 7mm Mauser, 7mm STW, .223, and of course .22 LR. I had 6 .223's at one time. The mix seems to change about every 3 years.
Then you get to the handguns where it really gets repetitive. And then shotguns.

DuckearTwo is one and one is none.

Sometimes the rifle set up is more important than the caliber.
.223 and AR are a good example
Varmit rig vs 3 gun rig are very different, yet the same caliber.
