usmc19807-08 load
Just wondering if some of you guys could share a good 7-08 load with me. I'm loading it for my brother. 139gr SST is his bullet of choice. Thanks in advance.

Savage 99The late great Bob Hagel is quoted as famous for saying that "Each rifle is an individual"
Therefore I suggest that you work up a load using the data from a manual. In addition to manuals the powder manufacturers have free data on line.
I have looked at sites such as The Reloaders Nest that has user handloads listed and I have seen dangerous loads. I traced one of the authors down and he said that he did not use the load any longer!!!!

30378Whatever bullet you pick, Varget powder will shoot pretty well in a 7/08.

Alex.Yusmc1980,
H414 works really well in my 7mm08 at the moment, it was pretty good with a range of bullets.
i have settled on the best load i have found so far with the nosler 120gn BT's and 48 gns of powder.
i know they are not the bullets your brother has chosen but the 414 worked well with the 140 grainer's aswell

ted thorn+1 for Varget. I have shot thousands of 7-08 rounds and this is the powder I go back to every time regardless of the bullet.

usmc1980Thanks for the input. Varget was actually what I have been leaning toward. Also was considering H414 and H380 is another one my manual says you can't beat.

DWrightEach rifle has it's own likes. In my Kimber M84, the ONLY load it shoots well is 45 grains of IMR4350 with a 140 gr. Barnes triple shock. It will do 1/2" 3 shot groups and the group starts to grow slightly after that, but that's good enough for hunting. Strangly enough my hunting buddies Kimber 7-08 turns in the exact same performance. But your mileage may vary.

South40RE-15 plus 140gr Nosler Accubound. Very accurate in my micro A-bolt.

DuckearH4350 with the SST's has been a sub MOA in my 7-08 in the 2800fps range.
I have killed from 40-380 yds with that bullet and powder combo.
Hunting: Exercising dominion over creation at 2800 fps.

Paul ReedIn mine Varget gave good accuracy but W760 gave better velocity with reasonable hunting accuracy. Great cartridge

owensbyIf you want to try a 120 gr load try the one below, useing the hornady spitzer or HP they both work good on deer.
Last year I used the spitzer to drop one at 200yds and this year I used the load below with the HP to drop a small doe @140 yds and a 10 point buck (162lbs)All 3 went straight down.
I think a few years ago I used Imr 3031 for the 139 hornady,Had good luck shooting some one hole groups with IMR 4350 and the 139 sst and 140 accrubond.
This year I have been playing some with the speer 130 gr and so far the varget has been real good but haven't finished trying other powders yet.
