<brewtcl>Steyr Rifles?
Does anyone know anything about the synthetic stock Steyr Rifles. Are they accurate, reliable, etc. I'm sorry I don't know the model, it appears to be the typical hunter model.
I ask b/c I like the features and feel. The shop here is asking a $599 but said he might come down a little.
Any comments are welcome. Thanks in advance.

dan belisleSteyr builds good rifles. They are not a controlled feed DGR type rifle, or a classic type action. But they are well designed and built, and usually quite accurate. - Dan

Heritage ArmsI like the synthetic stocked Steyrs my current ones shoot great for factory guns
My .308 is extremely accurate. It was great right out of the box and has not been altered in any way. I also like the fit and feel of the rifle. It is the SBS Heavy Barrel Tactical model. Be aware that the Steyr Company has changed ownership recently and is reorganizing it's business.

<JOHAN>I have only used a Steyr AUG and that worked very well all day long. I guess the bolt actions would do the same. Steyr is to German for my taste.

I am borrowing one from a friend to try to get it to shoot for him. Its a .270 and I'm getting about 2.2 to 2.5" groups at 200 yards.
For comparison my Savage 116 shoots about 1.7 to 2" groups at 200 yards.
I really like the way the stock fits me (even though I'm left handed and it's right handed).

HunterJimBrew,
I have a Steyr Scout in .308 Win and a ProHunter in .376 Steyr. Both are accurate rifles.
Steyr changed distributors in North America from GSI to Dynamit Nobel/RWS recently. Some of the guns in the distribution pipeline are being sold chaply -- lowest price I have seen is $499.
