Mauser Rifles
Anyone hear anything about these Mauser rifles sold through Sig in the U.S.? Seem kind of expensive, but look like a nice gun. They have a good website at www.mauserwaffen.de

You mean the 98, of course!

Finest rifle IMO. If I had the money I would get one in 8x68S and a Safari in .416 Rigby, both with appropriate accessories, the 8 mm scoped, the 416 with Diopter.

The 03, mmm . . . . its a rifle, yes.

I'd love to own one in 7X57.

Besides SIG being the importer, who stocks these rifles or can order them here in the U.S.?

What about prices?

Or, order an action or barreled action directly from Prechtl in Germany. Actions in the white are about $3500 from Prechtl, SIG won't sell an action or barreled action; their complete rifles are around $10K, depending on options. You can also check www.mauserwaffen.de or www.golmatic.de.

I would consider what I could buy for $10,000 from a US custom gun maker first..

Cabelas has one in 450 Dakota for $5,500 I was very impressed with it for that price it fit me well but was light in wieght. I would give it carefull consideration in 416 Rigby.

Absolutely! Or a small to medium-caliber double like Merkel or Krieghoff.....

I agree a good double can be had for the price of some bolt guns...
