Any experience here? Seems like a nice gun to build on an FN action, I assume it fits in a standard action. What did dies run you and from where?

It will fit a standard action.

Dies you can find at Old Western Scrounger. I got my CH4D dies from them for $40.

Thanks, it looks like an easy way into a classic caliber. It will probably feed ok too starting with a 30-06 action.

Check out the dimensions first but it seems to me that you could just send an extra '06 (the second best one, of course)to Wells Sport Shop in Arizona and have the barrel rebored and the chamber cleaned up. That ought to do it.

I have a "poor mans .318 WR" a .338-06 and absolutely love it. Easy on the shooter yet seems to deliver a punch way out of proportion to what it really is. Super penetration too.

I already have a 35 Whelen so the medium bore space is filled, I just thought it would be nice to have a rifle with "318 Westley Richards Nitro Express" stamped on the barrel. Your right it should be a super penetrator with 250gr woodleighs.

Kevin,

"I already have a .35 Whelen so the mediumbore space is ALEADY FILLED".

ALREADY FILLED!?!?!?! What about a .318 WR/.333 Jeff for the lower end?? And say a 9.3x62 for the upper end???

You shoulld NEVER, I repeat NEVER ever fail to fill each and every niche, no matter how small ,with another NEW RIFLE.

It's a caveat I've lived by for many years. Works for me.

Seriously...... I've seen .318 ammo at the SCI Convention sold by both WR and Kynoch. Expensive for sure but available. I think you have a great idea there. I especially like the rational of the ".318 WR" inscribed on the barrel. Bravo!

"Westley Richards 318 Accelerated Express"

"Cordite 27 (sticks) 250 (grains)"
