Brennanc9093Best Poweder for .300 Win Mag 150-180 gr
Im going to handload for a friend of mine for his Winchester rifle in .300 Win Mag. He is wanting rounds he can target/plink with 150gr and rounds to hunt with in 180 gr. If I were to buy one powder to load both weights what are your reccomendations

phurley5Use RL-22 and hunt and plink with 180 grain bullets. Cheap bullets for plinking and Northfork bullets for hunting. All the shooting with the one load will give dividends in the long run. Good shooting.

farbedoI've always used H4831 in my Ruger 300 Win for 165's and 180's.
That said, the next batch will be with Ramshot Magnum just to see. It looks promising.

Woodrow SI use H-1000 with excellent results. One day I will try RL-22 and RL-25 just because.

Dave BushHow about
Ramshot Magnum?
"MAGNUM is the ultimate high performance magnum rifle powder. It provides outstanding performance from the popular 7mm Rem Mag and 300 Win Mag through the Remington Ultra Mags and 338 Lapua. It is a double-base spherical propellant that is the number one choice for high performance “overbore” magnum cartridges. Made in Belgium."
I have had really great luck with Ramshot Powders. I shoot a lot of Big Game and Hunter as well. You will be surprised how far we have come with spherical powders.

Biggs300I use H4831SC. I hunt in a pretty wide range of temps and this powder is fairly tolerant of temps below 20 and above 90 degrees.

Donald NelsonI have shot the 300 Win for years.
IMR 4350 worked great for 165 grain bullets but H4831SC and R22 gave best accuracy with 180's.
I never shot 150's.

Bwana NderoboI usually look to either IMR4350 or RL-19 in my 300 WM loads.

Mighty PeaceVote for RL-22 from me and 3 other reloading buddies in their 300WM...all with 180gr Accubonds.

tiggertateA little off the beaten track but I load 130 gr TSX with Win 760. Chronographed at 3600 fps from the Barnes #2 load manual. Great hard hitting and flat shooting hunting load for anything below the Mason Dixon line (or most things north of it). And 130 grain varmint bullets like Speer's TNT are fun, cheap and accuate plinking.
