schromfRe: 7mm retirement and suggestions
I thought I had a commercial Husky 98 mauser lined up and was working on the FFL txfers, when I found out it was a military.
My smith thinks I got a screw loose on this one and keeps trying to talk me out of it. I spoke with him last night and I promised I would go back over the 7mm's bores and review before I commit. He's told me just build a 6.5x55 problem solved, but I keep asking him how I am going to get a Nosler .284 cal, 140 gr bullet to work in it. He is also trying to talk me into a .308, which he says works just fine in a short barrel. I got a half a rifle rack of 30's and just not interested in another right now.
I really was hoping the Remington 700 was going to work out, it made this project simple. I am currently on the hunt for a Mauser CRF action that is suitable, but I want to start with a commercial preferably. I am also on the lookout for a pre 1953 model 70 Win, or a suitable ol FN.
I am really disappointed right now this shouldn't be this hard.
This has turned into a PIA.

schromfNo, I didn't use the Mexican, I was thinking of saving that for a 257 Roberts. My smith wants me to sell it, he isn't real excited about a build on it. I think he is being stubborn on this. If your really interested PM me and I will dicuss with you. I really wish I could find another G33/40 maybe this weekend I will get lucky.
