weagleThe Game King is designed to be one of the more rapidly expanding bullets which can be good or bad depending on the application. The nosler partition and barnes TS 225's would give more penetration. The nosler 225 ballistic tip has a very heavy jacket but a rapid expanding tip and would fall somewhere in the middle both in penetration and cost. Might be a good choice.
Good shooting,

3584ELKIMHO the Hornady 250gr SP is a good choice. I have shot elk front to back with the 225 Sierra and it basically shredded itself...BUT it killed the elk quickly! Mind you, this was out of a 358 Norma Magnum, so slightly higher velocities than you enjoy. I haven't found a need, nor used the premium bullets.

Whelen NutDR
For hog and bear, I'd go with the Speer 250's. Probably one of the best bullets for the Whelen.
You will get more expansion (maybe too much)at close range with the 225 GK's.

AtkinsonIn this day and time I don't know why anyone would still use conventional bullets on elk and large animals, the Noslers and Barnes triple shocks are not that much higher in price.
I grew up in the conventional bullet days, and any conventional will fail from time to time or ocassionally, the cost of a bullet is a poor place to save money on a hunt IMO...
