Just picked up a custom Husqvarna and looking for some starting load suggestions. I have some 140gr Hornady BTSP and was thinking of trying accubonds and TSX. I have RL22, 7828, RL25, H4831, H1000.

I've been looking for a well done Mauser action or CRF M-70 in .270 Roy for a long time. I lust after the caliber but I hate Weatherby rifles. No offense to you Weatherby users and there is nothing really wrong with them, I just don't like them.

Ian I have a 270 Wby built on a VZ24. I would suggest you try the TSX bullets. My rifle likes 7828 but RL 25 would likely be very good as well. Even in a non Wby rifle you are likely going to push bullets 200 fps faster than the 270 Win so I would suggest you save the softer bullets like the Hornady for your winchester. Hope that helps.

I shoot a .270 Wby in a Blaser R93. That particular barrel is not as fast as one could hope - giving me about .270 WSM velocities (or below). The barrel shoots 130 grs TSX pretty accurately, and shares trajectory with my .300 Win Mag/168 grs TSX, which in turns allows me to share my custom BDC Leupold between the two rifles. Until now, I have shot IMR 7828 in mine, although come this weekend I'm about to try some VV N560.

My friend in MT shot 140 grs ABs in his .270 Wby. He found joy using RL25: 78 grs max with an OACL of 3.465" - work up from below!. Velocity was about 3300 fps out of a 23" barrel. (Please note, the above load is neither pressure tested nor verified against published load data, so, as always when reloading, approach with caution!).

mine is built on an old model 70. i've only used 150 gr partitions behind a bunch of H4831. rather deadly long range round

I have a Lilja barrel on my pre-64 in .270wea.
150grain NoslerPar do 3280Ft/sec from a 27" barrel. Dealiest round around

The .270weatherby is the finest imho of all the weatherbys.

My wife's Weatherby likes 140-grain TSX (or factory X). 3058 fps / 3.275" OAL / GM215M primer / 69.5 grains H4831SC.

RL-22 works great with 150-grain TSX and 160-grain Nosler Partitions.

I just returned from my range session. As predicted by the Nosler manual, VV N560 does pretty well for accuracy with a 140 grs AB in the .270 Wby. I have yet to chronograph the load, but looking at the primers, and the fact that temperature was just above freezing today, I don't think I'll load any hotter than what the Nosler manual suggests.

This is the first time I have shot VV N560, and I have to say all shooters on the lanes surrounding me were pretty impressed with the sound effects and built-in light show...

I have a Weatherby Mark V deluxe in 270Wby and I am shooting 71.5gr of IMR7828 with 150gr Hornady interlocks. I have some 150gr Barnes TSX that I plan to try.

I have a No.1 in the .270 Wby and it likes max load RL 25 under 130 and 150 gr NP's. I've not tried 140's.

The 270 wby mag maybe the best long range deer round ever, I have had good luck with my custom rem 700 with a max load of RL 22 and 130 nos accu bond. I have not had a deer go more than 20 yards after being shot with one.

I have a Winchester and Weatherby and they both just love RL22.

Got some RL22 and RL25, 130gr TTSX and some 130gr Accubonds to try out. Running a bit low on 7828, so will try these powders first.

Have used my Weatherby MK-V,.270 Wby mag since 1992 now. Shot several of our norwegian moose(Elg)and many roedeer with perfect results. Used 150 grs barnes-X,and 160 grs Nosler part. on elg.
Also hunted in africa with this gun on two occations..Shot Zebra,lots of Impalas,bushbuck,several warthogs,and last summer a very nice Oryx.
Very effective. This calibre really shines with 150 grs premium bullets. Me using Norma MRP,getting factoty ballistics easily,with all bulletweights. In my opinion,this is one of the most underrated cartridges ever.

I,m using Norma MRP,70,0 grs,CCI 250 behind Barnes TSX 150 grs. Appr.3100 fts. Very accurate,and safe in my rifle.

BNagel--I happened to try RL22 yesterday. I loaded 68.5gr of RL22, Fed215M, OAL 3.27" and Weatherby cases and the group measured .323". I plan to load a few more this week and try to confirm next weekend to see if it will repeat that result. At 68gr the group was about 1" and at 69gr it was .75".
