which tipped bullet?

It's not at all surprising to see the Accubond faring so well in the poll. They are made in many calibers and in many weights in each caliber.

I'm wondering why Hornady's SST and interbond wasn't included?

While my loading bench has quite a few white tipped bullets my favorites are not tipped at all.....

I voted Accubond. I've never seen a Federal Trophy Bonded tip in person. In fact, they are kind of like Bigfoot. Some pictures floating around the internet and Federal website but no solid physical evidence they exist as a component for reloaders.

Polls are tough to get all the options available. I used good old Nosler Ballistic Tips for many years - when they were still in 100 count boxes. Quit buying them when they went to 50 count boxes and that was "maybe" the 4th Generation Design change.

All the first three Generations woked fine when you realized they were quite fragile and needed to be used in that reguard.

Haven't used any other Tipped Bullets and probably never will. Good old Standard Grade Bullets have always worked just fine for me. And absolutely positively 100% for sure, I'll not be using any Politically Correct Bullets endorsed by pelosi/boxer/schumer/shwartznager/brady/califoney/the UN/etc.

I'm with you as well. It's not so much that I hate Barnes bullets as much as I can't stand the pro Barnes people that post. They are like a cult and treat the X bullet like it's a death ray. It's turned me off to them. Plus, I don't use magnums so premium to me is an Accubond or Interbond.

It never fails... there's always at least one person who can take a decent thread and turn it into a pissing contest by bashing others. Good job guys.

I'm one of those barnes believers. I don't post anything about them that I haven't found to be true, and I sure as hell don't exaggerate. What I say about them is what I have seen with my own eyes. Every deer I've shot with them has dropped where they stood with massive organ damage. Better results than I've had with any other bullett.

My reply to that... You can't make a judgement on them then, since you obviously haven't tried them. Making a decision against something simply because so many others like it is not a valid reason to write off said product.

My point is this. It's one thing to speak your mind about a product, but when you start bashing those who use and believe in those products... Well, Them's fightin words.

Hmmm...looks like the Accubonds are pretty popular. I may have to give them a try. I'm a kool-aid drinkin Barnes guy myself. I drank so much Barnes kool-aid my lips turned red...and in the process I put 225 grain 338 caliber Barnes X bullets into the following animals and in every case they performed as advertised.

7 sitka blacktails
2 caribou
1 mountain goat
4 moose
3 brown bears
1 interior grizzly
1 black bear
1 California pig

I started using NP's in my "go to gun" in the early 80's. (I started using NP's in the early 70's) If i go buy a box of NP's for it today, i get the same "proven it always works" bullet. If i had worked up a load for a Barnes design, how many times have they changed their bullets since then?

SO, IF you find a Barnes design you like now, you better buy a pile of them FAST, as tomorrow they will probably be different!

A good bullet choice is influenced by the distance it will be used out in the field. A 308 180g used in Pennsylvania out of a tree stand for a whitetail at 50 yards requires different performance than a 300RUM 180g at 350 yards used in Montana for a bull elk. Therein lies the dilemma for the bullet maker - - same bullet, different applications, and try to design a bullet that will meet both.

My experience has been on the wide open terrain side of things and for that the Nosler Ballistic Tip is the best in accuracy and performance. JMHO, but I like it.

November 19th my son in law shot a nice white-tailed deer with 150 grain Hornady SST out of a 30-06. Range was 120 yards. The deer was hit a little high on the front shoulder standing broadside. The deer staggered at the shot and Died Right There. We could find no exit. I had to clean the deer in the back pasture and did not find the bullet.

As a big fan of Noslers and Accubonds, I was very impressed with the SST.
