I'm going to sight it in with Nosler Accubond 225gr bullets. In the next few days. I figure that they would kill almost anything I shoot with the Rum using them. What do you think?

For the big stuff like an elephant I would use my 458 Lott.

Just broke one in today. I am going to set up an Audette test with the 225 gr TTSX next and RL22. The 225 TTSX is boat tailed unlike the 225 gr TSX.

Figure less meat damage.

Try and get hold of some 231 Lapua Naturalis. I just got back from Namibia and I tried virtually every type of bullet in 225grains in a custom 338 RUM...........it was FAR AND AWAY THE BEST BULLET!

I don't have an answer to this right now, but I'm of the same thinking. I plan on taking 225 AB's to Namibia in my 340wby in the spring. Already loaded are ones atop 7828SSC, and I plan on selecting a second powder for testing purposes. The list will boil down to RE22, RE25, WMR, or Retumbo. It's really just a matter of which one gives me the best groups (duh), and the best load density.

My hunting buddy & I used our 338 RUMs in BC with 250 gr. A Frames. They flattened every bear (4) in his tracks including Mike's 7' 4 " monster. The bear guides were wowed with the devastating punch of the .338 RUM. They declared that all bear hunters should be carrying one. Super accurate too. On the recoil side, the .338 RUM in my lightweight mod. 700 is as punishing (in my opinion) as my .458 Lott RSM. Love them both.

I had a browning abolt in 338 RUM with a muzzle3 brake it was very controllable. I always shot retumbo with 225 accubonds, accurate and deadly. My load clocked out at 3140fps.

Well I sighted it in with the 225 accubonds it took 10 rounds to do it.It shot a tight group around 5" to get it done with the last 2 in the middle.
I wanted those Accubonds for bear . There FPS is 3178.

I use RL25 powder in that rifle. Thats powerful
power.

My hunting buddie uses one. Everything he's taken with it including Deer, Elk, and one very large Bear went straight down. (DRT); he calls it the 'Hammer'!

What weight of RE-25 were you using jro45?

I use 98gr of RL25 with those 225 Accubonds. The load is out of
Noslers 5th edition. I have a 26" barrel Also.

That is a nice load.....I used 97 in my loads that I took to Africa....just in case the weather got hot, which it did.

For everything except elephant?

I would not hunt Buff or Hippo with it as a rule prefering a larger bore, not to say it won't work and I have killed a couple of buffalo with the .338 Win. but prefer a larger bore..besides most countries technically require a larger bore by law such as a 9.3 in one country and the rest are set at .375..
