300 Wby factory ammo?
I'm not going to have time to load for my 300 Wby this year. I'm going to use it for deer at primarily longer ranges (Ag. fields/power lines). Do you have any recommendations? Good, bad, etc? Any and all comments are welcome. Thanks.

Factory Weatherby ammo in the .300 caliber has always shot well for me. Buy the least expensive ammo (180 P.E.), and it will serve you well. I have taken bear, moose, caribou, and deer with the above.

I have shot a fair amount of 300 WBY factory ammo as well, and I agree with Bo Rich.

I would try different factory loads till I found the one that shot best im my rifle.

Factory Weatherby ammo has always shot well in both my .300 and .257 bees.

I tried the 180 gr ballistic tip bullets b/c that is what I could find this weekend, and they grouped really well. I'm waiting for a box of the 180 SP to get in and try those next.

How do the 180 ballistic tips work on deer sized game?

The will work fine on deer sized game.

They will however cause quite a bit of damage if you shoot a deer in the shoulder.

Also I would not want to make a rear end shot, as when might be necessary when hunting in thick brush.

I have killed deer and antelope with 165gr Ballistic Tips [reloads] in a 300 WBY and deer and wild pigs wuth 180gr BT [Remington factory] in a 300 Win Mag.
