croutWhat model remington model 7 w/ detachable mag.
I have a remington model 7 in 300saum. Stainless. Laminated thumbhole stock. With stainless detachable mag.
Was this a special production run rifle? I can't find any info about it anywhere, not to mention any type of bottom metal conversion for a rem model 7. The magazines is a flush Mount.
Any help would be aporeciated
Here is a picture of the bm.

If memory serves correct, I believe it was just a new model that time proved unpopular. This was when the saum cartridges were new and thumbhole stocks were all the rage for a couple of years. What you have is a rifle that there shouldn't be too many of, so you have a "unique" rifle. From anything I've heard, they were accurate as hell.

buckeyeshooterThe 7 was also available out of the custom shop. It is also possible someone ordered it to those specifications.

Gerrycrout,
Either way, special order or standard SKU; a Buddy has a similar rifle, blued/synthetic in 300 SAUM.
Not only is it a tack-driver but the recoil in such a handy, light rifle was nil (O.K., opinions vary). I fully expected to get whalloped but it was a powder-puff to shoot, super accurate and in Namibia was responsible for the one-shot demise of a Safari full of trophies with Remington factory fare ammo.
Good Luck with it!

croutThanks for all the responses. So if it was out of remingtons custom shop does anyone have an idea of what it would of cost over and above the standard hinged floor plate model?
I haven't decided if I'm actually going to keep it yet. I already have a 325wsm and am debating on which one to keep. I think either one with the right bullet is capable of taking anything in NA.

ClaymanWhy wouldn't you keep both?

I think which one you keep depends on what your 325 WSM is. I'm not a huge fan of the SAUM's in general, but that's a pretty nice rifle in what we're finding to be a rare configuration.
