Re: bullet selection for 264 win mag....
My suggestion for the .264 WinMag and deer, would be a Barnes X 120 grs or a Nosler Partition. This cartridge drives the bullet rather fastly, and weak leadcores would splitter without doing the proper job, but just destroying a lot of meat.

I have used the Speer Hot-Cor in the significantly slower 6,5x57R. The bullets destroyed a lot of meat on our small swedish roe deer (big as usual sheep or goat), as the bullet exploded on impact like a vermint bullet. Despite the severe wounds in the chest, where heart and lungs exited through a 6-inch hole together with the rests of the bullet, the deers ran more than hundred yards after the hit. I have had considerably better results with harder bullets, and suppose that this bullet would be yet worse in that fast cartridge of yours.

Best regards,

Fritz

I'm working on a load for a Ruger 77 264 win mag, and wondered about bullet performance and accuracy. I've been playing with 120 grain Remington Cor-Lokt's, but can only get about 1 1/2" groups at 100 yds. I was looking at the 129 grain hornady interlock, or maybe a 120 grain Speer Hot-Cor. Does anyone have any pet loads or ideas on how these bullets will perform on average mulies and whitetails? What kind of groups are you getting with hunting loads.
I'm not loading anything real hot, maybe 3100 to 3300 fps.

Thanks in advance
