Help needed with a mannlicher mod 72 in .375H&H
Hi,

I´m having serious problems locating spare parts to the magazine of my Mannlicher mod 72 in .375H&H -the moving parts of the mag are in pieces (plastic) and the company doessn´t carry spares any longer.

Anyone know where to start looking?

Is this the plastic rotary magazine?

I would look on ebay, gun broker etc.

cewe,

You have a serious problem. I've been into the M-72 for many years (20+), and have never run across a cache of spare parts. The S action large bore rifles appear to have never been imported directly into North America, so I would suspect whatever parts there are, are located in Northern Europe. I've only seen TWO large action M-72s in the USA, both in Mannlicher collections, a 7mm Mag and a 9.3x64mm. the M-72s I own are all the standard M series action.

I'm afraid Sierra2 is correct, and you probably won't find M72 parts on ebay or gunbroker. The M72 is a fairly rare bird here in the U.S. I would think you would have better luck in Europe.

He is in Europe -- I don't suppose anyone knows a source in Europe?

Hi,

Looks like I have a mojor problem -and yes it´s the plasic rotary mag that has gone to pieces. I guess I´ll check the market in Europe and I might have a friend that could make one out of aluminum...God I hate plastic.

Cheers

cewe,

You might try this person. He is an old Steyr employee geared up to produce the original Mannlicher-Schoenauer. Erich might be able to steer you toward someone with knowledge of the M-72.

Hi,

I today did what I should have started out with -contacting Steyr-Mannlicher directly.

And yes they had the part!

That company sure gives good service...and remember NEVER to listen to rumors (I "heard" that the part was no longer available Roll Eyes)

Cheers

cewe,

You are fortunate!!! The branch of Steyr here in the USA has been terrible since the HQ trashed using GSI as their distributer. GSI always had the part or found the part, not so our new people. Maybe we should start asking Steyr (Austria) for support again. Thanks for yoru experience !!
