Sako Deluxe AV 300 Win Mag
I'm looking at purchasing one. Does anyone have any thoughts as far as accuracy, long range shooting 400+yards, value. It looks to be in great shape.

Sako is normaly a very good rifle and 300 Win Mag is sure a good choise for long range hunting.

All day worth $900 if in good shape, I have the standard version although the stock is pretty nice. Very accurate, and easier to carry than a 75.

I like the Sako AV so much I bought one in .338 Win mag. For the extra $250 dollars, I'd choose a Sako over most any other common production gun.
They cost more then some others, but one look at the fit&finish and you know where the money went. In the fwiw category, I've never seen a Sako that didn't shoot well.

if its priced at 900.00 it should be darn near Mint. the quality is built-in on any Sako! thumb that 300 is an awesome caliber ,you live in critter country and can make good use of it. my 75 s/syn. handles just fine... Big Grin keep us posted

No caliber makes shooting at game at over 400 yards by any means a "cinch". A .300 Win will need a little less hold over compensation than a .30-06 by a few inches, but you'll still have the significant arc of the trajectory, plus wind and shot dispersion, to consider.

That said, there would be few combinations of rifle and caliber that are better for longer range hunting than a Sako AV in .300WM. Just don't expect miracles.

I have one of those rifles.

Sell the stock and get a McMillan Hunter style in Olive Drab.

Lovely rifle.

If you can find a mint AV Deluxe in any calibre for $900, I would be all over it. Lou
