DthfrmbvRemington 700 Sendero SF
I was wondering if anyone owns or has shot one of these rifles and what their opinion is of it? I was contiplating about purchasing one of these in .300 Winchester Magnum. Thanks.

Idaho ShooterAfter shooting my #1B in 7mmSTW, my cousin and shooting partner bought a 700 Sendero SF in 7mmSTW and equiped it with a Springfield Armory 4.5-14 sight. It is a nice, good looking rifle. The factory trigger is a little heavy (but which new trigger is not). The Sendero shot about MOA at 100 yds(using a benchmaster rest) when new with several handloads and a couple of factory loads.
I spent most of the summer tuning and tweaking with my #1, It now outshoots the Sendero, much to my cousin's dismay, but his rifle is still factory original.
I think the Sendero will be a great rifle for you, and you have chosen a great caliber. Just don't expect .25 moa out of the box.

murftjMy experience is mixed. A buddy of mine has one in .22-250 that shoots .187 inch groups with handloads. On the other hand, my uncle has one in 7mm STW that never has held groups, and a gunsmith worked on it, and determined that the throat measurement was off, and he also had it rebarreled to try to fix the prob. I know, inconsistency sucks.

stkbndrI bought one a few years ago to use as my "beanfield" rifle here on the farm. It was a 300 win mag, and I found Win supreme 180gr Ballistic Silvertips to be the most accurate factory round. I loved the performance of the rifle, and killed deer out to almost 400 yds. Probably would have kept it, but the overall weight of the rifle just got to where it bothered me, so I sold it. Now I use a Win 70, stainless in 300 WSM. It shoots just as good, if not better, but with Fed Premiums and 180gr partitions.

DthfrmbvI'm asking about this rifle because I need to be able to shoot it right and left handed. I don't believe the stock on this rifle is designated specifically, with a cheek piece or palm swells, for a right or left handed shooter. Can someone confirm this? I'm chosing the .300 WM for an all-around caliber and easibility to obtain ammo.

lawndartI had one, used it, got rid of it. It is very "clubby". they aren't made very well. Even with the extra weight they are bothersome to shoot from the prone position. You don't want to shoot much of anything larger than a .308 off of a Harris bipod. Like my distinguished colleague above noted, you would be better served by a sporter style rifle.

Andre MertensMy .300 Win SS Sendero was a .5 MOA rifle right out of the box and after lightening the trigger and playing a bit with screw torquing it shot still better.

JustCMy 7mm rem mag sendero SF holds sub MOA way out at 500yds and beyond with factory ammo. Poor groups belong to the shooter,..not the rifle. With the first 4350 recipe under some 162gr a-max's,..she went only slightly over 1" at 300yds
both of mine and both of my hunting partners SF sendero's are all 1 hole shooters at 100yds and often even .5moa at 200yds (depending on shooter).

BigdaddytacpAs the other post notes ....the quality is sometimes varied BUT the good ones do shoot great.....the trigger HAS to be tweaked OR replaced as almost any production gun nowadays....the STOCK BOLT TORQUE makes a BIG difference in grouping...the 55-65INCH lb setting gives great results in all the half dozen of these guns that I have shot or owned and a 30cal mag loading is seldom wrong with GOOD bullet selection for ALMOST all NA hunting needs...imo.....the stock on the ones I have seen are on a couple of year old guns and were the HS type and didn't make left hand shooting uncomfortable? for our one left handed shooting buddy when he tried one of our RH guns.....hth..good luck and good shooting!!

JBDFor the last two years I have been shooting one in 7mm Ultra Mag with a Leupold 6.5x20x40 in Leupold long range mounts. All I have done to the rifle is adjust the trigger,clean out the left side of the barrel channel, and lap the barrel. I do use custom dies cut just for the rifle's chamber and take great care to load concentric ammunition but the thing is extremely accurate to 1000 yds. I don't think there is a better long range rig out there for the money. Maybe I just lucked up and got a good one but it is a minute of angle rifle just as far as you want to shoot it. My present load is a 160gr Accubond with Retumbo powder and Federal magnum match primers. It is NOT just a paper puncher but used also for long range Mule Deer. I have been through a lot of rifles but this is the best long range critter getter I have ever owned and I am not normally even a Remington fan.
