"THE ULTIMATE" LR ELK RIFLE........
The .338 Snipe-Tac!!! Cool FYI, it's a .408 Chey-Tac necked down to the .338 cal. It will shoot a 300gr. Sierra Matchking up to 3350 fps-3400 fps, and 3900 fps with a 200gr. Ballistic Tip. Imagine a 250gr. Barnes TSX at 3500+ fps!!! clap

I think I can describe that rifle in one word: Ouch!!!

Why not simply buy a Barrett in 416Barrett?

Or a McMillan single shot in 6.5-50BMG?

If that aint the truth, my 338 RUM kicks hard enough. One question though, in a 9lb rifle the RUM delivers about 55 ft lbs to the shoulder with the 300g SMK. What would this one do???????????? it hurts just to think about it.

One simple word.....WEIGHT. A fully scoped rifle would weight around 16 lbs. OR LESS, depending on options. Check out "The Ultimate Long Range Rifle" at the bottom of the page. Expensive, but AWESOME!!! Cool

Don’t know about the ultimate!! The .338 Allen Mag hold about ten grains more powder but just about the same thing ballistic wise. Both built on the .408 cases. I’m talking to Kirby Allen now about building me one but it will weigh about 25 pounds.

I thought you had seen my rifle and started a thread on it! Big Grin I had a .300 Jarret built. Weight was 7.5 lbs naked, 200 gr. bullets at 3000 fps, .75 moa with hunting loads, McMillan stock, trigger job. It was a solid 500 yd rifle, light enough to carry over hill and dale, accurate. This was my ultimate elk rifle. I shot the barrel out and it is off being rebuilt as a .358 STA for it's new job in AK.

Heavy BR type rifles will certainly help with recoil. Guess it depends on the type of hunting you like. Also, don't some states have a restriction on weight---- such as Idaho to eliminate rifles such as the 50 BMG? Are other states next?

The .358 STA and the .358 Townsen ULTRA both intrigue me. Make sure you update us with what you think about the STA!!! thumb
