First ShotBrowning BPR Vs Rem 7600?
I'm definitely going to pick up a pump, probably in 30-06. I already have a Rem 700 Mtn LSS in 7mm-08 and I want a pump for woods hunting where virtually all shots would be 200 Yds or less. I have been seriously considering the 7600 with the 18 1/2" barrel; however, I've owned a Browning BAR before and it was extremely accurate and fit and finish was excellent.
I would be interested in hearing any Pros & Cons related to picking between the Browning BPR and the Rem 7600. I know they both have freefloated barrels and the BPR is no longer in production.
Which would you recommend and why?
I'd appreciate any input you can offer.
Thanks

Allan DeGrootaccording to the browning website it is still in production, but they don't include it in the firearms listings, I suspectthat Browning has simply failed to update their web info
Remington has made the 7600 for quite some time and there seems to be no likelihood that they'll stop anytime in the imaginable future.
But I've gotta say if you aren't expecting to shoot past 200yds why not get a 7600 in 35Whelen?

I'm hunting in NW Arkansas / SW Missouri where big game consist of whitetails, bear, and hogs. Nothing that the 30-06 couldn't handle with ease. I've given the 35 Whelen some thought, but other than having "something different", I don't know that I would gain that much over a 30-06, or if that gain would be needed or worth the extra recoil. (The Odd six can handle up to 220 Grn bullets where the Whelen goes up to 250 Grn.)
Am I missing something here? I know there are a lot of 35 Whelen fans around. I know I'm kind of hijacking my own thread, but let me just trun the question around a bit........unless you're hunting big critters like Elk & Moose.... Why a 35 Whelen?
