Picked this gun up on December 17th...but thanks to the wisdom of CustomBolt I can now quickly share photos on here....thank you sir!!

Here is my 1938 Pre-War pre64.

The owner of this local gun store purchased 15 pre-64 model 70's out of an estate. This was the only pre-war (without a drilled & tapped rear bridge!) I was shocked it had not sold. The owner of the store saw me looking at it and said " I'll cut you a great deal on that rifle, it's the only one not drilled to mount a scope!" It has definitely been a prized piece in someones collection for a while...stock and bluing on the gun look amazing.

Excellent! Those rifles were made to be USED. Good luck on your hunt.

I understand that! I'd never buy a commemorative handgun or rifle just to keep in the safe or hang on the wall. Guns are good investments but in all of the "flipping" i've done over the years...breaking even or losing a little money is the norm

I have made money on the guns I have sold

But then only have sold 5 or 6 in 50 years of buying them.

I told the wife after the kids are done picking through them have a auction.

that's in waaay better shape than most I see.
I usually see them with at least half the bluing missing and the wood is about black form being handled and carried so much.

Most of the pre64's I see are beat to crap. Just years and years of hunting scratches, dents, dings...bluing gone at the muzzle...bluing gone from the bolt handle, rust, a bluing rub spot on top of the barrel where it sat in a safe. This was the best condition rifle the store had out of the collection...and the cheapest
