I'll cast my vote for the 358 Win.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned a .260Rem. yet. It has about the same ballistics as the 6.5x55 which I use for moose in Canada. I would suggest a .260Rem. because you said you wanted a 20 or 22" barrel. Most of the rifles for this and similar calibers such as the 7mm/08 weigh only about 6 or 6 1/2 lbs. You might want to consider a Pachymyer Decelerator pad for it also. It's like a .308Win., a nice, well mannered rifle unless it weighs 6lbs. with a short barrel. Then it becomes a pure beast. Everything based on the .308Win. case is fairly accurate so you shouldn't have too many problems there, and the pad will make it a lot more pleasant from the bench. Most of what I've stated is probably pretty much true for the 7mm/08 also. Either would do nicely. Best wishes.
