PhilbillyAnyone owning a Ruger pc9 carbine?
I would like to have a discussion about the accuracy and reloading for the Ruger pc9 9mm carbine. I bought one of these new for a good price with the thought of shooting both cast and jacketed bullets as I have a 9mm pistol. Also since Ruger quit making it and they were hard to find along with the Marlin camp carbine which was discontinued. Hey I knew what i was getting into as 2 in at 50 yds was what I was looking for in a plinking gun. I have been reloading and casting for 26 years and this carbine is been a pain in the____. Im working with blue dot, AA#7 and AA#5 and unique. Well blue dot with 141 cast seems to be doing the best 3in maybe at 50 yds. This gun will do 2 good shots maybe then a 3to 4 in flyer or two.its frustrating as heck!!!Thougtt I was getting a good group with 115 jacketed then the flyers come. Im trying to determine whether its an inheritly inaccurate gun that Ruger got rid of or does it have potential as a 3 to 4 in group at 100 yds? I have a good solid mount and am using a Leupold scope 2X7 compact on it The gun is inspected for leading and the barrel is cleaned well when I start. I would appreciate any experiences with thids gun. On the plus side it doesnt jam and feeds lead semi wadcutters and has a good triger pull and I like the gun just want it to shoot a little better! also It digests +p+ loads very well which I like.

PhilbillyThanks Butchloc are the 147 cast bullets or jacketed? And can you please tell me the load and the best powder. I would love to get that out of mine!! If the bullets are cast do they have a gas check and have you cronied the load? Would appreciate any help !

butchloci'm using jacketed bullets (don't like cleaning lead) i think plated ones would work as well. AA7 or bullseye. AA7 has been better than BE. I'd have to check the load but i believe its 7 grs of AA7. its a subsonic load

PhilbillyThanks again Butchloc! Well finally am getting good groups with lead 141 grs which I cast with no gas check. Spent a few hours at the range and 5.4 grains of bluedot is the winner at 50 yds. Ive gotten about a 2 inch group which is what im looking for. At 100 its still iffy maybe 5 to 6 inches with flyers but its not a 100 yd gun. Im hoping it will do good at 75 but no targets at that range. Ive had a lot of variables as leading could have been a problem with some of th loads. So I kept cleaning. Also its a public range thru old sewer pipes that are about 2 ft in dia. Ive gotten good groups with high velosity loads but think the subsonic loads are a problem. If I shoot high or low thru the pipes I get different patterns so i kept shooting at the same target. thanks again
