HonkeyHornady 9.3 x 74r SP RP vs Bear
Does anyone have any experience with this bullet. I used it in my Chapuis to kill this black bear the other day..
http://share.shutterfly.com/sh...&sid=8AZNXDhq3atFGlUThe bear was 150 lbs and was shot at about 20 yards. I loaded the bullet to the same fps as the Hornady factory ammo, which uses the same bullet. The speed is 2350 fps.
I shot him through the shoulder and the bullet exited the other side behind the other shoulder leaving a hole the size of a tennis ball in the bears armpit!!
The bear dropped down and started thrashing so I gave him the other barrel, this shot hit the hind quarters and exited the stomach leaving the guts hanging out!
Unfortunately did not recover either bullet.
Has anyone here got any experience with these bullets? I cut one in half to see what it was made like. See the pictures, the jacket is quite hard and is about .08 inches thick.
What I am worried about is that this bullet will be to explosive for tough stuff like African game and Moose. Any experience with this bullet is appreciated.
