Was at a gun show this past weekend and found a NIB Interarms Whitworth in 7X57. Manufactured date was 1984. All the paperwork was with it as well. Cleaned the packing grease out of it this evening. Can't wait to get it to the range and try out some of my favorite loads. I didn't realize there were unique finds still to be had at the shows. Will you go the Rigby Scottish stalking rifle route and use a 140 grain spitzer-pointed bullet at 2,600/2,700 fps or the classic WDM Bell Afican rifle route and use a 170 grain semi-pointed bullet at 2,300/2,400 fps?

When it comes to well stocked rifles in 7x57, I am a sucker for sure.

Concerning my load of choice for this rifle, I compromise between the two schools. Lately 160gr Accubonds at 2600fps seem to be what I have been reaching for. The 160gr Accubond is an accurate bullet and at 2600fps it is sufficient for everything that can be reasonably taken with this caliber. In another 7x57 rifle, it has been used to take many head of game up to kudu without concern.

I liked 160 grain in my .280 Remington.

It does seem to offer that extra bit of weight that takes the 7mm calibres just a rank above the .270 WCF in terms of that little bit extra potential retained bullet weight after hitting an animal.

And 2,600 fps is a nice game killing speed that is hard on the shoulder.

Congratulations on finding a gem! Is it a full stock or half stock? I just returned from testing loads in my recently acquired Steyr-Mannlicher Carbine in 7x57. Accuracy is outstanding with all loads I tried and several were <1". I'm sure your rifle will do the same as every 7x57 I've shot were beautifully accurate.

The rifle is a half stock with 24" barrel which I like very much. They seem to balance better for me especially when shooting off the sticks. I didn't realize it at the time but the LOP is 14 1/4" which fits me very well.

I paid $700 for it which I thought was very fair being new in the box. And I believed a rare find in that condition.

Looking forward now to getting it scoped and out to the range. The 160gr Accubonds are seated to 3.1" as this worked well in the old Ruger and chamber fine in this rifle also as it has a long magazine and I read throated for 175 gr RN. I've also got some 160 and 175 grain Partitions I'm anxious to try.
