sunriseBig Bore Hunter - Kimber Montana barrel question

Featherweights (classics) are designed to have a forend contact point of about 1" or so.
I bought a new .243 Kimber Montana. It advertised a free floating barrel and the one I handled in the store had one. The rifle that eventually arrived in the mail didn't. It is a very light rifle. Do you know whether it is supposed to have forend contact? Its not with me at the moment so I can't measure where the barrel touches.
