GeorgeSPlease confirm - Ruger 30mm rings for a SS GSR?
Ruger's ring finder does not list the Scout. I e-mailed Ruger CS on Friday, but they haven't gotten back to me yet (understandable, as there is a time zone difference and an intervening weekend).
I want to mount a Zeiss ZA 1.5x-6x 42mm scope on my stainless steel GSR. The rifle came with a #4 ring and a #5 ring; as the Scout is a Hawkeye variant, I presume I need the 4K30 and 5K30.
Is that correct?
For those who may have selected another company's rings, which did you choose?
thanks,
mbogo

Rick RGeorge,
The stock rings didn't give enough clearance to mount a Zeiss Conquest with a 38mm objective over the Scout rail on my GSR. I called Ruger customer service and they advised to move the rear ring to the front and they sent me a taller rear ring with the request that I send the shorter one back. Of course with the 42mm you probably plan on taking the rail off.
You might just give them a call and see what they advise, the folks I dealt with seemed to be pretty knowledgeable.

impala#03Hi George,
I just recieved a set of rings from Alaska Arms for my Ruger RSM 416 Rigby. They are Quick Detachable. Your can get the lever on the right or left. They also come 1 inch or 30mm.
I plan on getting something mounted on this rifle to shoot this weekend.

impala#03Addendum,
Alaska Arms rings also come low medium and high depending on the objective lens size.

GeorgeSRick,
I mocked it up using a 30mm (Burris) ring from the Redhawk I sold that is the same height as the Ruger #5, and it clears the rail easily.
Impala#03,
I saw those (I was thinking of adding their QD lever to the stock Ruger rings)and don't want to spend $122 plus shipping for them. The Rugers cost half that (approximately).
I doubt the Ruger CS people know this scope, but I'll give them a call.

GeorgeSAlright, I've determined that the rings I want are the 5K30HM (front) and 6K30HM (rear). These will allow me to mount the Zeiss so it will clear the rail.
I ordered a 6KHM as well, so I can mount a 1" higher-magnification scope (in conjunction with the 5KHM that came with the GSR) for load development and longer-range shooting.
FYI, the HM is for 'Hawkeye matte', and will match the finish on my stainless steel GSR.
