Remington 1 in 16 twist rate for 35 Whelen?
Remington just verified that the twist rate for their barrels in 35 Whelen is 1 in 16 inches. I don't know if this is fast enough to stabilize a Nosler 35 caliber 250 grain partition? Anyone got any ideas?? JimmyP

1-16" works fine with 250 gr bullets. I think it's when one tries to use bullets heavier than 250 grs that the 1-16" twist may become a problem. 250 gr bullets worked fine in my Ruger M77 in .35 Whelen (1-16") back when I owned it. I never tried anything over 250 grs, though. I have a new Rem 700 CDL in .35 Whelen but I haven't fired it yet.

I agree with Bob. I have a Custom 700 with a 1/16 twist, and it shoots 250 grain bullets very nicely. I will say though, that the Nosler 225 grain Ballistic Tip has become my favorite both for targets, and elk, 2 taken.

My 700 Rem Classic will shoot 250gr under an inch at 100 yards. I am very pleased with it.
