CraigP350 Rem. Mag. in a Remington 7600
I was at my gun dealer's shop yesterday and he mentioned that Grice Gun Shop is having Remington do a run of 7600 pump rifles in 350 Rem. Mag. He said it will have the mattel blue receiver and synthetic stocks and will only be available with a 22" barrel. Has anyone else heard of this special run? Will the 7600 be able to handle the belted round? The rifle sounds interesting.

onefunzr2It does sound interesting.
The model 760 was chambered for 35 Whelen once-upon-a-time. Their power is about the same. Don't know about making it work with that dreaded belt.

wooferwhen i asked my smith about this last year he said there was not enough meat on the bolt to open for a mag. i thought that would also make a nice truck gun with a clip and all.
let us know what you find out.

savage49494CraigP, I'm inclined to agree with woofer on bolt size. I had one of the first 7600's in .35 whelen and that was a very sweet gun. Since they're roughly the same power, if you can find one in .35 Whelen I believe you will really enjoy it.

woofersome wholesalers still have them in 35 remington. it is a simple rechamber to end up with a 35 whelen if you get stuck.......
also, make sure you get the 22" tube.
they make em' in a carbine to but 18" is to short in my opinion.

I have two of the older 760's in 35 Remington. One is the carbine and the other has a 22" tube. My intentions are to rechamber the 22" in 358 winchester and shorten the barrel to 20". This is about as close to the perfect eastern woods gun as you can get. We aren't allowed to use semi-autos for deer in PA so these little pumps sure are handy.

You gents are a bad influence on me! Saw this 1989 vintage m7600 rifle with magnaported barrel, thought of this thread, and bought it. Don't have the correct reloading dies yet, so just squeezed the neck in a 38special die and fired some 158 gr handgun bullets. I like it already. I can't wait to load some 200 roundnose Sierras for the Aug 1st REDTAG crop damage season opener.
