Does anyone have first hand experience with Mossberg ATR Rifles? I have seen them advertised for $300-$350 range but I have never handled them.

Any input about the action and accuracy is appreciated.

I have the 4X4 in 270, which is the same action. I really like it. It's a shooter, fits me personally very well, and is one of my favorites. I got it in wood, don't care for the plastic. My friends are surprised at how well it strikes them also.

Wymple,
Thank you for your response. I was also looking at one with the wood stock in the ATR line in .243 for a fun shooter.

Can you tell me about the trigger or anything else that you find lacking?

Harris, I had an ATR chambered in 270Win. The factory trigger was horrible and at that time there was no after-market trigger available. I hand lapped the bore, put a Nikon Prostaff 3-9X40 scope on it, in replaced rings w/ the factory supplied base and it would shoot 1" groups at 100 yds. everytime it was shot with handloads. If a guy wants a decent entry level deer rifle this one would well fit the bill. I sold it to my S-I-L's B-I-L for what I had in it.
