460wby.338 RUM has arrived!
Hey.
I just have to tell you guys:
Yesterday I went to my gunsmith to bring back home my new custom rifle. A Winchester m70, pre'64, Stainless Steel. I've had it rebarreled from 338 Win.Mag. to .338 RUM.(Shilen Match).
The good thing is that after straighten the action, he also have fitted the old barrel. So now I have both .338 WinMag, and 338 RUM in one rifle.
I don't have money for the Leupold yet, but I "itch" to fire it anyway. Just to take a feel on it.
I just cant wait to get back from work!!

AJ300MAGCongrats on your new toy! My Elk hunting partner and myself have a little grudge match going on with our .338 ultras. He just recieved his from a local gunsmith, 700 action, Shilen barrel, Timney trigger, H&S stock with custom trigger gaurd and floorplate which I machined from stainless steel. A leupold 6.5-20 LRT tops it off with bases and rings I also machined for him. Mine is also a 700 action wearing a Krieger 28" barrel (Krieger trued my action and reworked the bolt). I mounted it in a McMillan Hunter stock, with the same bottom metal as my partners. I went with a Jewel trigger, same scope & mounts. I was smart enough to have a Vias brake installed. He's still working on breaking in his barrel, I've gotten 1/4"~1/2" groups at 100 yards out of mine with Sierra 250g Gamekings over RL25.

ZedmanSo far I have reloaded 200 Nosler B.T.'s and Hornady 250 Sp's and the newest Nosler Reloading manual seems to be right on what my Remington Sendero is giving me at the range.
Good Hunting, "Z"
