Been trying to get my 300WSM Montana to shoot 150gr, not having much luck
Been seeing quite a bit of neg. on the Kimbers. Do most agree that they won't shoot, or do most agree that they shoot really great. I've been told to go up to the 165 or even better the 180 grn. bullets. I'm going to load some 180 accubonds. Any recipes or thoughts?

I have recently developed a load for my semi custom Sako 85 and found a good load using 74 grns of N560 behind a 165 grn BT.

Please see pic. Non mag primers worked better in my rifle as you can see.

Shot these 2 fellas last weekend with that same load. One was DRT and the other was heart shot at 280 yards and ran 30 yards and crumpled into the soil.

Didn't mean to hi-jack but just got carried away on the pics front.

A friend of mine found a Kimber on a used rifle rack. He figured the previous owner probably had problems getting it to shoot, but since the price was right, and he needed the action for a future project, he took the jump.

As expected, performance was not overwhelming, but much improvement was achieved by putting forend pressure on the barrel (wads of paper as first attempt). Subsequently, the barrel was full length bedded with the same amount of pressure tests indicated. The rifle now shoots very nicely, not match grade stuff, but sub-MOA out to 300 yds.

Our experience is with my son's 84 in 308. We haven't done enough handloading to find a sweet spot but it likes Winchester 150 PowerPoints and Federal Low Recoil 170s factory loads well enough. Just don't let the barrel get hot at the bench.

I'm gonna load some 180's in Swift A frames, and Accubonds. I've got the SAfrms sittin around, so might as well try em. Also gonna load some 165 Accubonds.

Any additional info on powders, primers, etc. much appreciated. All of the info above has helped, and I do appreciate.

Friend of mine has an identical gun, K Montana 300 WSM. Last year he killed a Bull at 370 yds, a friend of his used the same gun and killed one at 425, and a teen aged friend also used the same gun to place a one shot kill at 519 yds. Granted the 519, and the 425 were both made under optimal conditions, and with tri pod.
Still, pretty impressive. All shots were shooting the Nosler Customs 180 grn accubonds.

Probably further than I'm willing to shoot, but was good to here a success story concerning the K. Mont. and 300 WSM.

Hope your all having a great season so far!

79 gr. of Magpro and a Remington 9 1/2 mag. primer with 150 barnes TSX. Good velocity and had a good exit wound on my daughter's elk.

I helped a friend develop loads for his WSM. He was full length sizing the cases and not too fussy about COAL. Neck sizing only and proper bullet seating depth turned it into a sub-minute of angle rifle with not much else being required. But maybe you have already tried all that?
