Paintcan1Stabilization of Barnes 200 gr TSX in 35 Whelen
I own a 35 Whelen Remington 700 CDL with the 1:16 twist barrel. Will the 1:16 twist rate stabilize the Barnes 200 grain TSX????
I thought I would ask before spending the $40 for a box of 50. Thanks Paint

Paul BProbably. I have two Whelens (Rem. 700 Classic and Ruger 77RS)with the 1 in 16" twist and both will stabilize bullets up to 250 gr.
Paul B.
It'll be fine, the 1:16" will handle projectiles beyond 250gr, although in a Whelen the 310gr Woodleigh may be a bit touch and go beyond 150m. Tradition (and practicallity) says a Whelen should have a 1:12" ... but the 1:16" will work for the vast majority of uses the Whelen is put to.
Cheers...

onefunzr2Hi David,
Thanks for the e-mail. There should be no problem in the .358 200 grain TSX
stabilizing in your 1-16" twist barrel.
