Don Howe9.3x62 Case
Could a shooter of this cartridge please post actual case dimensions? Specifically I am looking for the head (not rim) diameter. I have drawings at hand but I wish to know what the actual brass measures.
Thanks in asvance.

Exit31Don, see tread "9.3 x 57 rim as with 9.3x 62?"

Don HoweThis is what prompted my question. I have before me 4 different makes of .30-06 cases. Not one of them comes close to standard case dimensions. The 06 case rim is supposed to be .473 but only an arsenal case mikes as big as .470. Head diameter (just in front of the extractor groove) on the cases before me range from .463 to .467.
I have chamber/cartridge drawings for the 9.3x62 but what I am after is what case ACTUALLY measures. I have a .338-06 which, from a chamber cast, has an oversize chamber (read wallowed out when cut). I am trying to ascertain whether larger ida. cases might be formed or to just re-chamber.

FjoldPower guide lists the 9.3x62 as a .470 rim and a .472 body diameter just in front of the extractor groove.

Christian Nthe 30-06 and 9,3x62 are not the same case, different but still very close.
For a person like myself from Sweden, the idea to make 9,3:s out of 30-06 is silly, to much expansion all over on the first firing.
Get a 100 lapua cases and be done with it.
Best regards Chris

Don HoweTo the three gents who provided measured dimensions: thank you! that is what I was looking for. A cast of my chamber measures .475" where the front of the extractor groove would be. Ultomately a re-chamber wil happen but may not be feasible for me just now.
FWIW: Just to be clear, I am not contemplating making 9.3x62 cases from .30-06 cases. Rather I am comtemplating using the 9.3 case to accommodate an oversize 06 chamber. This may not be a practical solutiion. I am just considering my options. I am not afraid of case forming.

Don HoweI might add to my previous post that the largest of four makes of .30-06 brass I have on hand measures at or just under ,457" at the front of the extractor groove. The smallest of the four measures .463". If this were a surplus military rifle or was chambered for a low presure round I wouldn't be as concerned or would make allowances for the condition.
