Not bad result after hunt
First 3 shots through my Marlin XS rifle since a week hunting tahr in our Alps back in June. Guns transported in soft bags in back of truck, helicoptered in skid pod amongst camping equipment, humped up and down some pretty rough country, shot a bull tahr and a couple of yearlings for meat, back home, cleaned and in gun safe.
Rifle with factory plastic stock, free floated 22" barrel, Vortex Diamondback scope in Weaver type rings. What's to complain about with this sort of stability and performance from a cheap light sporter?

Really nice Eagle, and very satisfying I'll bet.
What distance is point blank for that load ?

Hunting.... it's not everything, it's the only thing.

Not sure what the PBR is for that bullet. The POI on the target is about 1" high which I prefer for general deer shooting where ranges are shorter. Also okay in tahr and chamois country too where shooting up and down hill in effect flattens the trajectory. If shot in to have bullet rise 3" at 100m, rising a bit higher than that at 150m then if shooting steeply up or down hill it is too easy to shoot over animals.

I have found over the years I naturally tend to shoot high on animals on the run so don't want my bullet to rise much above the 1" at 100m.

What I like about this load and the rifle is that the first cold clean barrel shot goes where the rest follow. A rifle that needs foulers and a bit of heat to get to POI maybe okay on paper but not animals.

I agree 1 to 1.5 at a hundred serves most people better the 3.

Then laser range finders and mutable reticle scopes help also.
