kimber 84m question
has Kimber always had a black decelorator pad in place or was there a time when they were red? I have found one with a red recoil pad, but I thought they all had black pads?

Thanks

If this is an early model Kimber, is it the same quality as the newer ones? and what value would it have?

Thanks

Dave,

I don't know about the color of the recolil pad, but the one I had used a black pad. The rifle had a two-position safety, which indicates an early-production rifle. If they used a red pad, then it was either very early or very recent.

Quality of the very first rifles was poor, with a badly-adjusted CNC generating problems in the rail area among others. The machine was corrected soon, and I don't expect many such rifles left the plant. You'd want to ensure the rifle fed all cartridges properly from a full magazine.

Thanks for the reply Jaywalker-

the more I look at the gun, the more it looks like a winchester model 70 stock - and since it is on the internet, I can't get my hands on it-
