sako type extractor
Thinking of having my 700 bolt to my 300RUM target gun to a sako extractor type. Any bad things about this?

I can't think of anything bad as I don't like the Remington extractor myself. I'm not as familiar with the Sako extractor as Orion1 or sakofan but I think you can make it work. If I'm not mistaken doesn't Ed Brown's 702 action have an M16 extractor? I'm reasonably sure you can make it work but anything would have to be an improvement over that C ring Remington uses.

I know it will require some metal work from my gunsmith, but figured it will be a great improvement to the gun.

After having one factory extractor fail I had sako extractors installed on all of my 700's.

A Sako-type extractor is essentially the same thing as an M-15 type extractor. Whoever said Ed Brown uses one is correct. It is the best extractor to have in a push feed rifle, bar none.

Other rifles with it are the Howa 1500/Weatherby Vanguard, Weatherby Mark V, and Tikka 595/695.

After having alot of work done on my PSS, I had trouble last weekend at the range with extracting for some reason. And a friend showed me his bolt. I was impressed.
