I didn't even know that they made bulets this heavy. I e-mailed Woodleigh and they said that it would stabilize just fine in a standard twist.

Double tap has historically inflated their ballistics... I wouldn't be surprised if this is inflated also. Buy a box, let us know

I bought their .338 WM 250gr. load and got 2762fps from a my 24" bbl. I also bought some of their 10mm ammunition and all four loads were within 20fps +/- of advertised velocity. I might have to try it out, though. (Just thinking about a 240gr. in a 300 WM puts a smile on my face!)

Jab how dose those 338 loads shoot out of your rifle. I sort of like the idea of being able to buy 300 gr Woodliegh loads for the 338.

I only bought a box of the 300gr. 338WM and they gave me about 1.1" groups from my LeadSled @ 100yds. They really do go 2500fps! I have 5 left to try some penetration testing, I'll post when I get a chance to do it.

I'm not impressed as that's a lot of bullet stuffed into a short necked case. I'm already compressing charges with 180s and a longer bullet will steal even more powder space.

True, it is a lot of bullet.....but that is why I just have to try it! I just placed yet another order with them and will probably owe them my first born before I am done. I will post the update here.

I am not suprised. My 300 ultra shoots 240's at 2850.

If you'll take a look at the Woodleigh site I think you'll find the 240 gr. 308 bullets are not 300 Wm. rated but are for the 30-06 velocities.

I run a 220 grain bullet in a 300 Win Mag at 2950 fps... using a load of 83 grains of H 1000... it is over current book specs, but I found it in an old load manual at a store... didn't buy the book, just remembered the load and tested some when I got home...

getting 5 and 6 reloads out of a 300 Win Mag case, I consider the load to be safe.....

So getting 2600 out of a bullet weighing 20 grains more... I would say that is pretty believable...

FWIW both Winchester and Remington used to offer factory loaded 300gr in the 338 many years ago (perhaps 25-30 years ago). Factory specs at that time quoted MV of 2450 fps.

Got the ammo today and chrono'ed this 240gr. load today and got a 5 shot avg of 2628fps, extreme spread of 14fps. Next, I will shoot in my Leadsled.

they did a comparison on the new 240gr woodleigh in one of the aussie shooting mags, found it more suited tto the 3006 than the 300 mags. it penetrated more at 2200fps than the higher 2400 fps from a 300wsm. just as a matter of intrest.
