Cobra,
I agree, 600 yds is really stretching it. Coupled with the hunter's ability to correctly judge the range vis-a-vis the range that the rifle has been zeroed in, makes it a very very risky shot to wound the animal. My longest shot so far was 292 yds ranged with my Nikon rangefinder, and then I am still nervous about making a one-shot kill.

eagle27Sierra 140gr Game King Boattail with a WIN LR primer and 47.0grs AR2209 (4350) in Rem or Win cases. Top groups, good pressure and 2900fps out of my 7mm-08 24" barreled Remington SPS.
I used 160gr Sierra BT exclusively in my 7mm Magnum for decades and will use no other bullet brand. Never found a reason to change.

stillbeemanDon't they have swales and dips and gulleys and brush and such? How did the locals do it before they invented a 600 yard spear?

Before the 600 yard spear was the ex army SMLE 303. With the bayonet fixed they were very easy to throw up to 1,000 yards.
