Doctor DNosler Ballistic Tip Failure
Caused me to shoot twice.
I've been using 100 grain BTs in my .25-06 for eighteen years and have killed over 50 deer with that combo. All have been one-shot kills. No tracking has ever been required. Ranges have been from 30 to over 400 yards. Animals taken ranged from yearling whitetails to huge muley bucks.
Yesterday, however, I had to shoot twice. I had a button buck broadside at 90 steps and when I fired I saw a twig fly and then the deer drop. It flopped around and tried to get up and I put another in the neck. I'd hit a twig about 10 steps shy of the deer that deflected the bullet enough I'd hit the spine in the middle of the back.
Total bullet failure.
I just bought 500 more this year in case Nosler quits making them.

StonecreekLots of folks warned you that was going to happen eventually, but no, you didn't listen did you? Now you're hunting with a FAILED bullet. All the venison in your freezer is liable to get up and run off.

TEANCUMOur family hunters of myself and our four boys have not had any failures with the NBT.
In fact,as I do all of the reloading for the family, they love to see a new box of shiny brass with the NBT on top of them. Just like Christmas.

aliveinccI am a committed Nosler man. I am NOT a BT man for anything but varmints. Load partitions and never look back.

Sounds to me like a quarter inch placement failure.
Hitting a twig then flying true and intact to the target exceeds my expectations for any bullet.
