At the tender age of 9, I used my dad's aluminum bow to heave a composite arrow into the head of a very large bass nested next to the local dam near our house. After tustling the beasty to the shore, I trooped the bass home and proudly showed off my monstrous "kill". My mother was stunned, as were our friends playing cards.....my father on the other hand was much more resolute. He stated flatly, "Tim, using a bow to hunt bass is illegal!" To which I replied just as flatly, "They can't arrest me, I don't have a license!"

thats funny, next time gather a couple of them so you can have a meal.

Funny you should say that....my M.O. was to usually bring home 50+ bream for mama to fry up. For some reason she always sighed heavily when I held up the stringer.

I did once tag two nassau groupers(about 30lbs each)with a mullet-jig, though....they were in a narrow boat channel half-stunned from the winter water temps.......FLA winter that is.

And then there was that 35lb snook I dropped my cast-net over.


Man, I wish I was young again back home in FLA.
