Gentlemen,

Anyone who intentionally jumps into an enclosed area containing a berserk 20' Great White - is a man I'll forever only refer to as "Sir".

Wow, unbelievable. I bet the spear shotgun thing takes a little while to reload.

Those power-heads screw onto the spear shaft -- sort of like how you screw a broadhead onto an arrow.

You can get powerheads in anything from 22LR up through high powered rifle, pistol, and shotgun shells, and I've heard of one person, of "dubious intelligence" in my opinion, that builds powerheads chambered for 50BMG.

Different spearguns have different mechanisms, and the spears are either attached to a string to "reel" the fish back in after you spear it, or more likely in this case, just a spear-launcher type similar to an underwater crossbow.

Generally you can carry a quiver with you, and depending on the speargun he's using and his proficiency, reloading isn't much worse than reloading a crossbow - or possibly even easier.

But then, that's "optimal" reload times ... I'm sure things are a bit different when you're out of your element in an enclosed net with a berserk, wounded 20' great white, faced with limited visibility in a SCUBA mask, sucking down your air supply.

If I was in the water, I'd be so terrified I'd be shaking so bad I'd never hit anything, let alone manage a reload.

I've heard of another diver that was spear-fishing in shark heavy water and caught sight of around a 12 or 15' tiger shark circling around him and giving the aggression warning signs. This guy had I think a .44 mag power head, but didn't have it in his spear gun, so he screwed it onto a spear and was just holding it. The tiger came in on him and he poked the spear INTO the tiger's mouth and shot it through the roof of it's mouth and out the top of it's head. 1 shot, 1 kill ...

It's all about shot placement.

Here's one of the guys that builds a powerhead chambered for a 50BMG.

Remember on a powerhead there's no muzzle break, not a lot of weight, and that 50BMG is a lot of cartridge (and pressure wave) to detonate up close to you underwater.

Discovery or one of those channels did have a dangerous job show that was about the Tuna Cowboys in Australia. The divers work the nets to make sure the tuna dont get out and make repairs as the tuna trap is pulled towards shore. Most of the sharks they pull out of the nets are not very large.

I routinely see big sharks near the gulf stream when fishing and anytime you have to go over to check the props or the hull it can be a puckering experience.

Don't seem to flow off the tongue so well but in the spirit of Mick Dundee I guess he'd be known as "Great White Stefanek"??? Cool
