375 RugerSharpening the Assegai or Boar Spear
I just got a long shaft Assegai and I love it. Simple test throws sent it whizzing through 50 lb sacks of corn like they weren't even there.
But striking dirt has dulled it, and I am very poor at sharpening skills. I've heard several of you mention that your Assegais are sharpened to a razor edge.
Could you guys give me some input on what to use and how to use it in order to achieve that keen an edge?
Thanks,
Steve
Sharpening should be pretty easy fith a fine file or coarse stone I would think. But I wonder, where can one get an assagi.

Allan DeGrootWhat I'd recommend for steel edges like these is called a "chain saw guage" file.
These are a single-cut flat file intended to trim the
"guage" or "raker" teeth of a chain saw chain.
They are usually harder than typical files as they are intended to trim hard chromed teeth.
They are just about the perfect tool for sharpening spear heads, Machete blades, axes, etc....
